Learning new language in life is fun and exciting. Your brain neurons will feel challenge. Those new vocabularies are like words which comes from an Artificial Intelligence dictionaries. When you hear someone speaking a different language, it seems like birds singing in the sky without any comprehension.
I will be sharing you a glimpse of my story. I am a native Filipina and took Bachelor of Science in Nursing in the Philippines. As a nursing graduate, it is difficult to find a job with a good salary. The work is under stress due to lack of staffs, you are working 3 shifts, no holidays and weekends. I worked in the Medical Department of a private hospital. After years passed by, i had an experience working under the Department of Health with a fixed-time contract designated in far flung areas. I learned my nursing skills from those times.
As years goes by, i realized that i dont earn enough salary to pay my own needs. Sometimes, my parents gave me allowances, for me to survive. As my age goes higher, my demands are increasing. I started to realized and said, I AM NOT SATISFIED.
Working is fun as they say, your colleagues will turn into friends and friends will turn into a life time companion.
I had friends who asked me,
Are you interested to learn a new language and work in a foreign country? Without any doubts, definitely i answered, Yes. I thought learning a new language would benefit me and it is cool. And afterwards, the story of sleepless nights has all begun.
I started applying in agency and they paid my online language fees but i also paid 10-20% of the total sum.
Things that i prepared before i started my online class were:
-Computer
-Good internet connection
In the Philippines, the internet is not strong compared to other countries. I also received books from my agency.
When learning a new language, it seems that you are like a little child. You first learn the alphabet and number until you could slowly formulate sentences.
Your online teachers are native speakers of the language you are learning. The online class are always on weekdays. (There were times after my night duty, i have to woke up at 11:00am in the morning to attend my class) It wasn’t easy.
There were always WRITING grammar homeworks for the weekends.
Reading is a fun class because you only have to pronounce those new words correctly but it was still difficult. Different language have different pronounciations. (Your tongue will twist and turn)
Listening class is like listening to a hymn music. (I tried to comprehend but they were like alliens speaking to me)
Speaking class is a good exercise to learn phrases.
The mistake i did while learning a new language were: 1. I always translate all the words into english and use the grammar rules in English. (Different languages has different grammars). 2. I used Translation Applications to translate a whole sentence.
There will be challenges learning a new language but all you need to have is a REASON, why should you learn it? Then motivation will come after.
