Mainau is one of the three biggest island in Bodensee, Germany. It is known as the flowering garden island with different kinds of plants and trees from all over the world, and with a beautiful old Monastery above. Beside the green plants, you can also find beautiful landscapes with a great view of the lake Constance and the Alps. Not just that, there is also a greenhouse with tropical plants and a wonderful butterfly garden.
The island belongs to the The Lennart Bernadotte Foundation. Lennart Bernadotte, is originally a prince of Sweden and Duke of Sma°land. (Do not wonder if you see the flag of Sweden on the island.
On the northest part of the island, you can find a small harbor. You can ride a ship from the island going to the other side of Bodensee.

How to go to the Island:
From the main station in Konstanz, ride a bus with the Bus Line number 4/13 or 13/4 and step outside in Mainau Station.
If you are sporty, you can ride with your bicycle and park outside the island using your google map.
Another type to reach the island is riding a ship. (This may sound romantic)
If you have private car, there is a huge parking space outside the island.

Are there Restaurants inside?
Yes with an extra beautiful view of the lake. There are available sausage grill, beer garden and bakery inside. You can also buy ice cream inside when the weather is hot.

Another attraction in Mainau is the Butterfly garden.
A roughly 1,000 square meters is the size of the butterfly house in Mainau. There are about 1000 colorful butterflies in the garden. The air is humid and you will feel the tropical temperature squinting your skin. Near the exit area in the garden, you can find hundreds of cocoons hanging on the wall. There are also man made waterfalls and exotic plants inside the garden which makes you feel like in a tropical country.
